Textual analysis of a music video-Who Dat Boy by Tyler The Creator

Who Dat Boy is mainly a narrative music video, although the narrative isn't exactly clear. It starts out with Tyler The Creator in a dark room welding something at a desk. As the beat drops he quickly turns to the camera and the mysterious object he was welding explodes. The title of the song appears on screen and it cuts to a very saturated scene of him running through the neighbourhood with a huge gash on his face. This contrast between the bright colour scheme of yellow and blue versus the dark red blood on his face shows us that the song has a dark undertone. He walks up to a house down the street, stumbling all over the place and as he approaches A$AP Rocky comes into frame with bright pink clothing, again going back to the bright colour scheme. The next shot is of A$AP Rocky performing surgery on Tyler, and the lighting in this scene is very low which is completely opposite to after the surgery has been completed and both Rocky and Tyler are outside. Colours are extremely important in this music video as right at the end there is a golden wrapped Lamborghini.
